Very unique way of building a world, for all it's worth. The character designs are also unique and I loved how inclusive this game way when it came to having most of the character sprites inspired by caricatures. The artwork is simply beautiful, the scenary is lovely and the animations are really fluid (for what it aims for, anyways). On the not so bright side, the ending and main idea of the game is sort of easy to guess from the very beginning, which kinda lets more to be desired for the twist at the end of the story.
It's truly one light story that does not take itself too seriously and it can be easily appreciated by virtually anyone. Wytchwoodmanages to create a sense of adventure and discovery with each new spell. I adored the humour in the story and the way the characters were portrayed, along with the protagonist whom I found unique both design wise and personality wise. In a practical sense, Wytchwood‘s goal is to fill up the Witch’s grimoire so that she can deal with all of the villains, but from moment to moment, it doesn’t feel like the player is checking items off of a list.
Story-wise, I loved Wytchwood from bits to pieces. On the good side, the system does not encourage the player to unlock areas and forget about them later (the crafting system makes it impossible to), but on the bad side, a good portion of the gameplay will feel like it's highly dependant on grinding. This game is all about crafting and gathering materials. I will try to be as objective in my review as I can, although it's going to be hard.
