LTO8 cartridges are in short supply due to the patent dispute but 6TB LTO7 are $70 and readily available and so are 9TB LTO7 type M ones for the same price. But lets compare both and a bare drive for LTO8 is $3.3K (all prices in USD) whereas optical is reputedly like $6K-$8K.
